Synergy between the mineral deposit exploration and geothermal resources assessment on the example of "Valjevo" boron and lithium deposit in Serbia
Nebojša Atanacković, Vladimir Živanović, Ana Vranješ, Sava Magazinović, Marinko Toljić, Ana Arifović, Branislav Potić (2023)Exploration of mineral deposits involves a collection of vast data sets on geological characteristics of the area. These data can largely contribute to the assessment of the geothermal potential, which can lead to an increase in the share of geothermal resources in the energy mix of the extractive industry and the local community. On the example of the "Valjevo" B-Li deposit, data on structural settings and previous hydrogeological investigations were combined with the results of resource drilling and geophysical ...Nebojša Atanacković, Vladimir Živanović, Ana Vranješ, Sava Magazinović, Marinko Toljić, Ana Arifović, Branislav Potić. Projecting short to medium-term effects of carbon emissions trading on Serbia's GDP
Boban Pavlović, Nikola Trtica (2024)This paper presents an approach to assess the short to medium-term effects of the Emissions Trading System (ETS), an economic and climate policy instrument aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, on GDP from the expenditure side. The analysis focuses on Serbia’s electricity sector, which relies heavily on lignite-based pro duction dominated by state-owned enterprises. The obtained projections suggest that in the short term, the introduction of an ETS may lead to slower GDP growth compared to official forecasts. However, ...Boban Pavlović, Nikola Trtica. Highway construction in fossil landslides zones – Lessons learned from the Grdelica Gorge, Serbia
Landslides are common on roads, which directly affect the flow of traffic and the connection and functioning of the population in surrounding area. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate them in the shortest possible time and to determine and carry out the remediation solution. Functionality of the state roads is immensely important so it is necessary to ensure that the traffic is maintained during remediation activities. Therefore, design solutions and remediation execution technology should be adapted to these requirements. ...Biljana Abolmasov, Marinos Skempas, Svetozar Milenković, Janko Radovanović, Miloš Marjanović. The impact of temporal variability of groundwater levels on groundwater vulnerability maps in karst terrains – a case example of the Perućac spring catchment area
Groundwater vulnerability maps represent an essential tool for protecting karst groundwater resources. Vulnerability assessment is usually based on spatial evaluation of various parameters that affect the vulnerability degree and regulate the protection role of the unsaturated zone. Most of these parameters, like soil and geology conditions, are constant and do not change during the year or over several years. In contrast, some parameters, such as the groundwater level, depend on the variability of recharge conditions. By considering the variability ...Vladimir Živanović, Igor Jemcov, Nebojša Atanacković. Challenges and Insights: Sequence Stratigraphy of Pannonian Coals in the Drmno Depression, Serbia
The application of sequence stratigraphy on coal beds worldwide has significantly contributed to the under¬standing of coal deposits and their origin. On the southeastern edge of the Serbian part of the Panno¬nian basin, there is a system of peri-Pannonian basins characterized by the appearance of Upper Miocene coal seams in the siliciclastic fill, which provides an ex¬cellent opportunity for testing sequence stratigraphy in young coal basins. In this study, sequence stratigraphy was applied to coals in the Drmno Depression, ...Anastasia Ninić, Dragana Životić, Dejan Radivojević.
