Why classical sequence stratigraphy doesn't work in Pannonian basin?
Dejan Radivojević (2018)... Upper Miocene depositional environments of the Kikinda-Mokrin High (Serbia)
Saša Ivanišević, Dejan Radivojević (2018)Exploration for oil and gas in mature areas, such as the Pannonian Basin, can benefit from reexamination of old data using more advanced modern workflows that focus on the temporal and spatial aspects of sediment deposition. Specifically, we apply a new environment of deposition model that interprets the Upper Miocene- Pliocene sediments as being deposited in a rapidly filling basin characterized by quick shelf edge progradation from the northwest toward the southeast. Reconstruction of this shelf edge trajectory reveals ...Saša Ivanišević, Dejan Radivojević. Palaeoflora of Kamenica (Pranjani Basin, western Serbia)
Palaeofloras of the Paleogene in Serbia are relatively rare, especially in comparison with floras from Neogene sediments. Most Paleogene phytoas sociations from the territory of Serbia existed in a dry and warm climate. The youngest Paleogene phytoassociation originates from the Pranjani Basin (Western Serbia), locality Kamenica. The age of this palaeoflora is determined as Late Oligocene. This fossil plant assemblage is different from other Paleo gene phytoassociations. The palaeoflora from Kamenica is characterized with leaf imprints larger than in other ...... the position of Neogene basins and the distribution of gravity anomalies. Neogene basins are filled with sediments of low density, in comparison to the density values of the basement and surrounding rocks. Back-arc underplating provided crustal accretion affecting topography and sedimentation in the Adria microplate
Paolo Mancinelli, Vittorio Scisciani, Cristina Pauselli, Gérard M. Stampfli, Fabio Speranza, Ivana Vasiljević (2021)Supported by evidence of deep crustal sources for the observed magnetic anomalies in Central Italy and by outcropping gabbros in the Croatian archipelago, we model the observed gravity and magnetic anomalies in the Central Adriatic Sea and surroundings. We suggest that the major magnetic anomalies in the area are related to a wide underplating and propose that this volume represents the first stage of the back-arc Adria continental breakup in Early Permian times. During the Palaeotethys-Adria collision, underplating has ...Paolo Mancinelli, Vittorio Scisciani, Cristina Pauselli, Gérard M. Stampfli, Fabio Speranza, Ivana Vasiljević. Density maps from gravity inversion as a tool for the basin basement analysis and imaging
Ivana Vasiljević (2023)Previously devised method for density mapping of the Cenozoic basin’s basement is further developed in order to improve the visualization and geological interpretation of the results. The method combines gravity-density inversion with forward modeling and requires gravity anomaly and depth-to-basement data. Although it was primarily designed for application in well-researched basins, such as Pannonian basin, method does not require further constrains. An information on density distribution in the Cenozoic sediments (from density logging or core density measurements) is important ...Ivana Vasiljević. Distribution of Uranium and Rare Elements in Radioactive Phosphate-Bearing Anomalies in Southeast Mongolia
Boris Vakanjac, Neil Rutherford, Vesna Ristić Vakanjac, Tanita Đumić, Suzana Đorđević Milošević (2020)Soviet and Mongolian geologists initiated geological exploration of Mongolia for minerals after World War II (1945). These activities lasted until the breakup of the USSR in 1991. As part of this exploration systematic uranium and rare element exploration was undertaken across Mongolia. New exploration resumed in Mongolia at the beginning of the 21st century for a range of ore and mineral deposit styles including uranium, coal, base and precious metals and Fe-ore. This was generally undertaken by Western-based companies. This ...Boris Vakanjac, Neil Rutherford, Vesna Ristić Vakanjac, Tanita Đumić, Suzana Đorđević Milošević. The impact of temporal variability of groundwater levels on groundwater vulnerability maps in karst terrains – a case example of the Perućac spring catchment area
Groundwater vulnerability maps represent an essential tool for protecting karst groundwater resources. Vulnerability assessment is usually based on spatial evaluation of various parameters that affect the vulnerability degree and regulate the protection role of the unsaturated zone. Most of these parameters, like soil and geology conditions, are constant and do not change during the year or over several years. In contrast, some parameters, such as the groundwater level, depend on the variability of recharge conditions. By considering the variability ...Vladimir Živanović, Igor Jemcov, Nebojša Atanacković. Properties of fly ash and slag from the power plants
This paper describes the physical, chemical and mineral properties of ash and slag, which were taken from thermal power plants Nikola Tesla A, Nikola Tesla B, Kostolac A and Kostolac B. The knowledge of the mineralogical material composition is important because the type of minerals directly determines the properties of the fly ash and slag and their possible application. Laboratory tests showed that ash and slag samples consist of the following minerals: amorphous materials, quartz, feldspar, mullite, melilite, cristobalite, ...fly ash, slag, physical composition, chemical composition, mineral composition, X-ray diffraction method...
